spring snapshot contest

Announcing unstamatic's first-ever Snapshot Contest, where we present a snapshot and challenge you to respond to the prompt with either poetry or prose. On April 6, we'll publish our favorite entry, and the winner will take home a $100 prize.

Kate is an artist and student in Missoula, Montana. While not primarily a photographer, she carries an old Canon she found at a yard sale, and which has lived in the Garden City longer than she has and knows its way around town.

the rules:

What we want:

  • Flash fiction of 100 words or fewer (we’ll count!).

  • Poetry of 10 lines or fewer.

  • All submissions should be original and in response to the snapshot prompt. This isn't the time for those trunk stories.

Other stuff:

  • Please, only one entry per submitter, containing only one piece of writing.

  • Contest runs March 10 - March 24, followed by a voting period.

  • Regular, rolling submissions will resume March 25.

  • A $2.50 entry fee funds the contest and helps out with the magazine; keeping our site up and running, paying our contributors, and paying for our submission service, Submittable.

The chosen winner will be announced and published on April 6, and will receive a $100 prize, payable via Paypal. We will also select two second-place entries, both of which will receive our standard $10 contributor payment, and will be published on the site alongside the winner.

Unstamatic requests first publishing rights as well as permission to display the author's work on our site, and upon publication all rights are reverted back to the creator.

Though the contest is funded by entry fees, full prize money will be rewarded regardless of income generated by said fees.
